Hey all.  I haven't heard back from UFCW yet.  I did, however talk to a friend of mine from Denton who is now in Austin that is an organizer for TSEU (Texas State Employees Union) and he said, that there used to be pizza makers union but it kinda fell apart or maybe isn't as big as it used to be? I'm going to look into this more in depth.  For the Drivers, a lot of drivers across the country are getting representation through the teamsters; so this is good news for drivers.  If we get Teamster representation we can count on getting a fair wage for our work.  Also, drivers, apparently franchises don't cut your pay when you are on the road, only the corporate stores do, which is pretty jacked up.  Anyways, we can't wait for our settlement to get the rights we deserve, we need to press on for immediate representation.  As far as I can tell, it will be far less exhausting to be represented by the larger unions than to be trying to go it alone with out major backing.  So, this is a good thing.  Unfortunately I do not have the fortitude, knowledge or wherewithal to organize and represent on my own because these things can be very challenging so having the backing of a larger union is always better.  There is one other option, we could become and IWW shop.  This is tricky though because you are paying dues upfront and have to self-manage your operation.  While, they are a better organization dogmatically, practicality requires that we look into Teamsters for drivers and I will keep looking for rep for cooks.  You are hard-working and deserve to reap the benefits of the wealth your labor produces!   Don't give up, be safe, be smart, we have a living wage to win!!!

You can click the Union Acronyms to take you to their websites and find out more abut them.  Right now Jimmy John's workers are organizing through the IWW.

I'll post some relevant articles for you to peruse so you can be more informed.  Thanks and remember, the less management knows the better, that includes anyone who runs a shift!
